The mission of the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency (IHPA) is to collect, preserve, interpret and communicate the diverse heritage of Illinois. The David Davis Mansion is one of fifty-eight historic properties which the Agency was created to preserve and interpret.
A Board of Trustees, appointed by the Governor of Illinois and confirmed by the Senate, manages the IHPA; the Board appoints the Director of the Agency, who oversees day-to-day operations. Within the IHPA, the Historic Sites Division interprets and maintains all historic properties managed by the Agency, including the David Davis Mansion. The mansion's director, known as the Site Superintendent, reports to the Superintendent of the Historic Sites Division, who reports, in turn, to the IHPA Director.
