Gardens Totally ROCK! Glorious Garden Festival Garden Walk -- June 16th & 17th

Garden lovers, put on your walking shoes! It's time for David Davis Mansion's 21st Annual Glorious Garden Festival Garden Walk!  This year's event, themed GARDENS TOTALLY ROCK!, will be held 1pm - 8pm Friday, June 16th, and 9am - 5pm Saturday, June 17th.

Advance tickets are $17, and $7 for ages under 18, and are available May 1st-June 14th, at Casey's Garden Shop, The Garlic Press, Grieder Landscaping Services & Garden Center, Growing Grounds, both Schnucks Supermarkets, Wendell Niepagen Greenhouses & Garden Center, and David Davis Mansion Visitor Center. Tickets can also be purchased online, May 1st - June 14th, by clicking below. During the event, tickets will be $20 and $7, available only at David Davis Mansion. The Garden Walk will be held rain or shine.

The Garden Walk begins on the grounds of the David Davis Mansion at 1000 Monroe Drive in Bloomington. Easy ticket and map pick-up, with drive-through service and free parking on the Mansion grounds, is available during the entire event weekend. Bring your tickets, or your computer printout for tickets purchased online.

As you visit the the 11 private Bloomington-area gardens on the walk-through tour, keep in mind the tour's theme! Be on the lookout for big rocks, little rocks, and rocks of all shapes and colors that our garden owners have incorporated into these beautiful gardens. We have a variety of gardens that were do-it-yourself gardens and some that have had help from professional landscapers. All the gardens and yards give our tour walkers creative ideas they can use at their own homes. Garden owners and staff representing local landscape sponsors may be on hand in some gardens to provide information and expertise. Rain or shine, visitors will be inspired by the creativity of this collection of some of our community's most talented gardeners.

In Sarah's Garden, on the grounds of the Mansion, members of the University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners in McLean County will conduct tours. Visitors can learn from these experts how to design their own Victorian gardens using heirloom plants, such as those from Thomas Jefferson's Monticello and other famous American gardens.

Stroll the Mansion grounds and visit the vendors' market place on the lawn, featuring a variety of vendors and non-profit organizations, and stop to enjoy complimentary tea and desserts under a tent near the Mansion. The Mansion will also be open for walk-through tours during the hours of the event.

This popular annual event is a fund raiser for the David Davis Mansion Foundation which provides the long-term financial support needed for the restoration and preservation of Sarah Davis's unique 1870s garden. This year's proceeds will support a project that involves research and the reintroduction of difficult-to-find heirloom plants and seeds.  Garden Walk funds also help fund science-based school field trip programs utilizing the garden, as well as helping to keep the the Mansion open to the public. Over the last two decades, the Walk has opened over 200 private gardens to the public and attracted over 20,000 visitors.

David Davis Mansion is an Illinois State Historic Site administered by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency. The David Davis Mansion Foundation helps support the site, its educational programming and events. The Mansion is open Wednesday through Saturday from 9am to 4pm for free public tours.
