Back by Popular Demand!  If you missed it before, get your tickets now for the fascinating Mechanical Tour coming up Saturday, February 23rd at David Davis Mansion!

Ever wonder about the behind-the scenes mechanical workings of the once most-up-to-date house in Bloomington?

*  How was the David Davis Mansion lit?

*  What was the source?

*  Where did it come from?

*  Did the water come from a well?

*  Or, did the city have water available in 1872?

*  What about lighting the gasoliers?

*  How was that performed?

*  How was the boiler fired?

*  What is in the attic?

*  What is in basement?

These questions and more will be answered on Saturday, February 23rd, during this special David Davis Mansion Mechanical Tour. Tour time is 1:00pm and tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets are $15 each and the tour is limited to 20 people.Tickets are available only at the David Davis Mansion Visitors Center, open 9am-4pm Wednesdays-Saturdays. Or call 309-828-1084 during these hours only, to reserve your tickets. DEADLINE FOR TICKETS is 3:30pm, Thursday, February 21st. Join us for a little fun and a lot of mechanical information! Please wear flat walking shoes for the tour.

Prologue to Presidency: Abraham Lincoln on the Illinois Eighth Judicial Circuit

Ongoing Exhibit

Funded by a total of $33,000 in grants from several organizations, this is the first of such major exhibits to be created in the local Lincoln legacy programs, and is housed in the Lincoln-era barn on the grounds of the David Davis Mansion. The project is sponsored by the former Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission of McLean County as part of the celebration of the Lincoln Bicentennial. The exhibit development was also supported by the Illinois Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission, the Bloomington-Normal Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Looking for Lincoln Heritage Coalition. The Heritage Association of McLean County is working with the Davis Mansion staff and Foundation to promote the exhibit and create related educational programs and special events.
