2019 Special Events at the David Davis Mansion

The Mansion is open for regular tours each week 9am-4pm, Wednesday-Saturday, except holidays. The events below are separate opportunities to visit, during times and dates noted, when special programs are planned for your pleasure. Call 309-828-1084 with questions.

Cruise-In at the Mansion Car Show, 10am-2pm, Sat., Sep. 14th

All makes and models of vehicles from antique to modern are welcome at the David Davis Mansion State Historic Site in Bloomington on Saturday, September 14 for the annual Cruise-In event on the mansion grounds. Hours for the show are 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  In addition to cars and trucks, Cruise-In participants may bring more unusual vehicles such as a boats, motorcycles or tractors.    

Dash Plaques for the first 100 vehicles will be provided by State Farm agent Chris Mizell.

Best in class trophies will be awarded for categories including Street , Muscle Car, Truck, Motorcycle, Special Interest, Import, Fabulous 4-Door, Awesome Wagon, Tractor, and Best        Boat.  usic will be provided by [email protected] and food concessions will be sold by Redbird Catering. The Davis Mansion and gardens will be open for walk-through tours. Docents and gardeners will be available for questions.

The event is co-sponsored by the Midstate Cruisers and the David Davis Mansion Foundation. A donation of $5 per person is suggested.           

The David Davis Mansion State Historic Site (1000 Monroe Drive, Bloomington) is administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. It was built in 1872 by David Davis, a U.S. Supreme Court justice and political ally of Abraham Lincoln. It is open Wednesday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for public tours. 

The David Davis Mansion Foundation is a not-for-profit organization supporting education, preservation and acquisition programs for the David Davis Mansion.

Prologue to Presidency: Abraham Lincoln on the Illinois Eighth Judicial Circuit

Ongoing Exhibit

Funded by a total of $33,000 in grants from several organizations, this is the first of such major exhibits to be created in the local Lincoln legacy programs, and is housed in the Lincoln-era barn on the grounds of the David Davis Mansion. The project is sponsored by the former Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission of McLean County as part of the celebration of the Lincoln Bicentennial. The exhibit development was also supported by the Illinois Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission, the Bloomington-Normal Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Looking for Lincoln Heritage Coalition. The Heritage Association of McLean County is working with the Davis Mansion staff and Foundation to promote the exhibit and create related educational programs and special events.
